The inability to not respond back hurts more than the sorrow to bear

As aa all-boys school student and later as a college student in Delhi; I have had a fair share of physical fights. And I had been fortunate enough to be mostly associated with groups who were seldom on the receiving sides of these altercations.

I recently became part of a group with an year to 2 year old kids. And one of the year old constantly cries because of the relatively older kids constantly snatching toys from him. AND THUS CAME A REALIZATION.

All the people I have beaten up; I noticed anger in them. But in the background also noticed sadness in their eyes. And as I recalled those emotions in depth, it became clearer to me that the sadness far exceeded the anger caused by the beating.

When you’re the weak one; the inability to not respond back hurts more than the sorrow to bear. And vice-versa, a society that works at creating dominance snatches away response from its deprived.

Late night musings.
